Best GOTV Campaign Get Out To Vote: Charleston County CHARLESTON TRIDENT ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® INC CTAR takes the recommendations of our Candidate Screening Committee to develop "CTAR REALTOR(R) Friendly Voter Guides" for the three counties our Association serves. This email is our main method of distributing our voter guides. We produce three guides and three emails, each of which are specifically targeted to the residents of the three counties we serve. The goal of this email is three-fold: first, to remind our members of the importance of voting; second, to help them make informed voting decisions and ensure that they are supporting candidates who will support their business and interests; and finally to educate our membership as to just one of the ways our legislative division is working for them and serving their interests through candidate vetting. The open rate for our Charleston County voter guide was 37%, with 7% clicking through to view or download the voter guide. The guide was forwarded 127 times, which shows that our members not only appreciate this communication but are enthusiastic about sharing it with others. Sunnyvale Get Out the Vote SILICON VALLEY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® The City Council election in the City of Sunnyvale is an extremely critical one this year. Three candidates, allied with an anti-growth city council member, are running against three candidates who are good friends of the REALTORS®. If the anti-growth candidates win they will control the council making it extremely difficult to do business in that city. Using the query tool we were easily able to isolate members who are registered voters in Sunnyvale and communicate directly with them in a cost-effective manner. The message linked to a leading newspaper endorsement. This allowed us to put out to our members the problems with the opposing candidates, without directly going negative ourselves. In 2011 there were a total of 16,656 votes cast in a Sunnyvale City Council race. The difference between the first place finisher and the second place finisher was 184 votes. We were able to email 150 voting members in Sunnyvale and, with forwards, had 80 total opens. In a race this tight that easily can mean the difference between first and second place. Vote Yes to Pay Less CHARLESTON TRIDENT ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® INC The "Vote Yes to Pay Less" campaign launched in September 2013 and is still in progress. The goal of this campaign is to educate REALTOR members in Dorchester County about a referendum to lower taxes in their county which will be on the ballot November 5. A "Yes" vote will lowers property taxes for all homeowners and business owners. The referendum seeks to lower property taxes through a minimal 1% increase in sales tax. A recent study by the county found those living in another county pay 20% of all retail transactions in Dorchester County, which means the sales tax burden won't be shouldered solely by Dorchester County residents, and most importantly, will benefit home and land owners. Our email campaign seeks to educate voters and REALTOR members as to why this is a benefit to them and will help create a friendlier environment for their business. Thus far, the campaign has achieved a 57% open rate. Best State Newsletter E-News OREGON ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Oregon E-News is produced monthly and consistently has a high open-rate (over 20%) as well as an excellent click-thru rate (5%). The newsletter provides a concise review of all of relevant updates and news items related to national, state and local issues. Georgia's REALTOR Party In Action GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® GAR created a quarterly newsletter titled, 'Georgia's REALTOR ® Party In Action'. This newsletter is similar to NAR's REALTOR ® Party Success Stories' but only focuses on local boards across Georgia. The purpose of this email is to promote local boards usage of REALTOR ® Party Programs and to increase our member's awareness of these tools and resources. The email was created with the new Email Express tool offered through Convio. Our members across the state can now see how other local boards and associations are utilizing REALTOR ® Party Programs to successfully reach their advocacy goals.
